The Liberty Aviation Museum welcomed grade 5 students from Bataan Memorial Intermediate on Friday, May 16. Volunteers and museum staff had a fun day planned with various hands-on activities for students. While at the museum students were able to assist with the 1902 Wright Glider Wing Rib Construction Project, see the P-51 & TBM Avenger and take the Hangar/Gallery Tour. The highlight of the day was meeting Retired Lt. Colonel Harold Brown, a Tuskegee Airman, and viewing the Rise Above Documentary that was visiting the museum. Brown then helped students make paper airplanes and there was a contest to see which paper aircraft would fly the furthest.
The fun and educational day was made possible by the hospitality of the Liberty Aviation Museum and with the support of the Port Clinton Elementary Parents Club. See the complete photo album at pccsd.net or facebook.com/portclintonschools.
