OMEA District Music Festival at PCHS on Feb.15

Talented musicians from around the area will gather at Port Clinton High School on Saturday, Feb. 15. The high school musicians will be participating in the District II Ohio Music Educators Association (OMEA) Honors Band, Choir and Orchestra. There will be 277 students representing 26 school districts in seven counties. Port Clinton High School students selected to participate in the festival include the following:

OMEA DII Festival Orchestra: Alicia Bacak, Seth Bickel, Blake Clemons, Tarrynn Edgefield, Gabe DeFrietas-Principle  Viola, Molly Haberman, Hannah Kneisley-Principle Cello, Miranda Rawlins, Natalie Stitak, Tayler Wadsworth.

Festival Choir: Alyson Shaler, Allison Gilleland, Courtney Trent, Alex Suter, Haley Klima, Kayla Armendariz.

Festival Band:  Flute–Claire Zielinski, Meghan Gallogly; Clarinet–Alayne Herevia, Ella Miller; Oboe–Taylor Steyer;  Bass Clarinet–Gabby Camerato, Raven Rogers; Contra-Bass Clarinet–Meghan O’Neal; Trumpet–Ellis Adolph, Adam Wells, Michael Lay; Horn–Summer Magi, Reinis Fisers, Gina Buono, Devin Fuehrer; Trombone–Collin Miller; Euphonium–Tim Lawrence; Tuba–Andy Batterton.

Musicians will participate in rehearsals during the day with guest conductors Mr. Andrew Schultz from Defiance College directing the choir, Dr. Frank Tracz of Kansas State University directing the band, and Dr. Melinda Crawford-Perttu from Westminster College directing the orchestra. 

The community is invited to the festival concert which will be held in the PCHS Gymnasium at 7 p.m.  Admission cost is $4 at the door.
